When I considered myself Christian I would have not been happy to have Him "appropriated" by those who wished to recast Him into something other than what He said He was. Only the most tortured and selective reading of the Gospels would lead one to believe that Jesus actually believed and taught most of the stuff we've been discussing here. So I have great sympathy with Greg's position on this point.

"Saying that we are "sons of the living God" is not at all out of line with scripture."

Using the term itself is perhaps not out of line with scripture, but the meaning which you are pouring into it is.

When Jesus claimed equality with God, the Jews who heard him, picked up stones to kill him for blasphemy. It's not blasphemy if it's true, after all Jesus is God, and demonstrated that by rising from the dead, but Fred, you are not God. You are a creature who is made by God, in His image.

BIG DIFFERENCE!

Jesus (second person of the Trinity) claims to be God = no blasphemy

Fred claims to be God = blasphemy

" Unfortunately Jesus Christ has been used baseball bat in the hands of these "religious" types which seek to conditionalize, claim, blame and shame while refracting, spinning and twisting the balls of energy in this game of pitch, hit and throw."

Aren't you doing precisely that Fred? What is your authority for saying the things you do about who and what God is? Please don't tell me it's Sweedenborg, because he has no more credibility than you do, especially when he couldn't sort out the good angels from the bad ones. Don't you know Satan comes as an angel of light? If you want to convince me you will have to convince me that your position can be sustained from Scripture and in context. Can you do that?
