re: spurrier

Steve Spurrier's the longtime coach of the Florida Gators. Often accused of running up the score and sometimes called "too honest" (whatever that means), he benched his starting quarterback Rex Grossman (runner up for the Heisman this year) for missing curfew. He put Grossman in in the second quarter, and he finished the game. Mind you, the quarterback who started in Grossman's place has been talking about transferring to cross-state rival Miami, but NO WAY could that have had anything to do with him getting a start in a nationally televised Bowl game.<g>

Spurrier is the (now ex) coach of the University of Florida football team. He tends to rule with an iron fist, and treats reporters rather, uh, harshly. I didn't see most of the Orange Bowl, kinda lost interest as they were running the score up.
