And yet the educated people of Afghanistan outspokenly cry for a democracy. However, they are not likely to rise to power. People who have lived under generations of oppression are not the most collaborative or compassionate people in the world. They tend toward taking care of number 1, and assume everyone else is like minded. The Afghan people are scrambling to survive, hold on to what little they have, and align themselves with the powers that are most likely to be there in the future."Would the world applaud us if we make Afghanistan a colonial outpost of ours and manage its affairs for the foreseeable future? No way. It is dehumanising and humiliating to be colonized. All of us need to feel the dignity of self determination. "And just how many other countries, on how many other continents, need the same help? The well being of the world and the creatures who inhabit it is the responsibility of every human being.
