I don't understand why this would disappoint me? I am not dealing with CMCSK though I know exactly what you are talking about. My friend up the street went to get his set up and was unable to get his service to work. I tried my hand at it but couldn't help much either on the first try so we called ADLAC support. After an hour on hold, we finally talked to a total idiot that didn't help at all and had us doing the stuff all over again that I had told him in the beginning I had tried such as pinging the server, running ipconfig, rebooting both the computer and modem etc.
Finally he forwarded us to the "senior technician". We were on hold for a long time once again. While on hold I figured it out for myself. Service? What service?

Anyway, none of this has anything to do with SFA other than in the context of my earlier post that ADLAC is doing away with SFA Modems and is only going to use MOT Modems from now on. Interactive TV hasn't been turned on here yet but I did ask the counter people at teh ADLAC office what STBs we would get and was told that they also would be MOT boxes.

When I called last year and asked this question, I was told that east of the Mississipi was using SFA boxes and the West was going to use MOT. Apparently they decided to try a few SFA boxes out here anyway and were not impressed thus the change back to the older plan. The question now remains will the eastern USA still use SFA boxes or will ADLAC be switching all locations over to MOT boxes and modems instead. That is why I want to get in on the call in 2 weeks and ask the question.

PS - I have heard that Dish service can be worse than Cable or DSL service. There was a brief discussion on it over on the New Stock Attack thread a couple months ago. Many had serious problems with DirectPC and Roadrunner both. Hopefully you checked with others in your area as to their success rate. I had no problems with my old 56K modem service out here in Idaho using AT&T but heard that they were horrible on the east coast. Maybe it is the same with all other services in that it just depends on your location. Thus far, ( two weeks), I haven't had any problems with my cable modem either...knock on wood...I love it. It really speeds the update time on my site mega fold and really helps me with downloading large PDF files etc.

Good Luck,

Lee
