Beamer - Re: "No wonder they all believe that AMD will have 27% market share. "

Those loonies just make up the numbers to meet their imaginary market share.

No wonder they all believe that AMD will have 27% market share. It will probably be a harsh reality for them, come CC time.

It will only get worse when the Northwood's are available. Volumes will be up, speeds will be up, and yields at 2GHz will be up as well. A price drop in the 1.5-1.9GHz range will tehn be the nail in the coffin (at least for the next 9-12 months)

Wanna, Re: <That's funny. Some of the AMDroids are predicting quite a bit more units from AMD.>

Why don't you try to do better?

Remember last Q when we talked about channel stuffing?

However, U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray's Kumar said the firm remained concerned about sales because retail inventory at important customers such as Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Computer was in excess of six weeks.

That's a 1/2 a Q of stuff.

Demand for Pentium 4 chips was two times higher than shipments in the quarter, Kumar said, leaving Intel to lament missed sales opportunities.

They'd have stuffed it more if they could have -- but they underestimated how stupid HWP && CPQ were WRT taking P4s.

That's one of the funnier stories I've seen around.
