That is more clear, thanks. Although I think Quote.com sees itself as selling a service, no two - one a bundled service and another a capability that others can add value too.

How successful it has been in the long run for them I can only guess. Seems like many third parties that started as Quote.com specific have moved on to support others due to ongoing problems with the datafeed over the past 24 or more months.

Another assumption or guess I have, but no hard facts - is that there are far more users of the "sample app" - QCharts - than there are of any third party application in your list or mine - possibly even the whole list put together.

I partly base this opinion on anecdotal comments from other traders and users of our site; and some of the third party applications you mention have pretty small user counts (in the big picture) based on feedback I've received.

We could put a poll together and find out ;)

Someone told me that DTN had more (non agricultural) users of data and charts than Quote.com QCharts. I'm still having trouble grasping that one since I so rarely stumble across someone using DTN for feed or charts.

Cheers
Michael

PS, results from my poll (so far) bear out your position and mine, oddly enough.

QCharts users have identified that 'product' more frequently as their Charting Tool, with 15% of respondents so far.

Users of eSignal (with no third party charts) identified themselves only 3% of the time.

Yet there are numerous eSignal compatible applications with sizable user communities represented in the poll results. My question wasn't designed to determine which feed they are using, because I was most curious about what charting tools people are using to get an idea for how many people use straightforward non-programmable products vs the alternative.

Current results:

Quote.com QCharts 15%
Ensign 10%
Metastock 9%
Other Web Based Charts (not streaming) 8%
Tradestation 4 or 2000i 8%
Quote.com LiveCharts 8%
