"so what if prices go down" The economics of bandwidth are not the same as chip processing power. Bandwidth is characterized by high fixed costs. The collapse in value of bandwidth related assets is trying to tell you what they are reaally worth -- and what they are really worth is nowhere near their cost of the last few years. The bandwidth party is a bust. Chip processing power follows a completely different dynamic related to relatively constant rates of the production cost improvement.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan 4, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- P.F. Chang's China
Bistro, Inc. (Nasdaq: PFCB) reported revenues increased 30% to $89.3 million for
the fourth quarter ended December 30, 2001 from $68.8 million in the fourth
quarter of 2000.

Comparable store sales increased 3.5% for the fourth quarter of 2001 as compared
to the fourth quarter of 2000. Approximately 1.5% of the comparable store
increase is attributable to price increases implemented during the fourth
quarter of 2000 and the second quarter of 2001. The remaining growth reflects an
increase in customer traffic. Comparable sales increased 1.1% for the five-week
period ending November 4th, 3.5% for the four-week period ending December 2nd
and 6.2% for the four-week period ending December 30th.

In its October 24th conference call, the company had forecast sales growth for
the fourth quarter of 2001 in the range of 22% - 24%. Implicit in this revenue
forecast was an assumption that comparable store sales would be roughly flat.
Based on the above revenue assumptions, the company had anticipated earnings per
share to range from $0.30 to $0.32 in the fourth quarter of 2001. The company
now expects to exceed those earnings estimates given actual revenue results for
the quarter.

National Fundraising Effort

On November 19th, 2001, P.F. Chang's China Bistro held a "National Lettuce Wrap
Day" to help raise funds to benefit the New York Firefighters Counseling
Services Unit. The November 19th sales of the company's signature lettuce wraps,
as well as sales of Wattle Creek Sauvignon Blanc, totaled approximately $75,000.
These proceeds, as well as a company contribution of over $25,000, will be
presented to The 9-11 NYFD Counseling Support Foundation later this month.

First Quarter 2002 Revenue Expectations

The company expects revenues to increase 25% to 27% in the first quarter of 2002
as compared to the prior year. Implicit in this revenue projection is the
assumption that comparable sales will increase approximately 1% to 3% over last
year, consistent with pre-holiday sales trends.

The company intends to release its fourth quarter earnings on February 13, 2002
at approximately 7:00 am ET. A conference call will be held later that same day
at 12:00 pm ET, at which time the company will provide an earnings outlook for
the first quarter of 2002. A webcast of the conference call can be accessed at
www.pfchangs.com or www.streetevents.com

>>Rubin, 35, made money on Overture Services, an Internet advertising company in Pasadena. Its price almost tripled in the fourth quarter. "It's a low-cost, high-profit-margin business, and management has cut beneficial deals for themselves and their affiliated partners like AOL and Yahoo," Rubin said.

Also up sharply in the fourth quarter was Hotel Reservations Network of Dallas, the operator of an Internet travel agency specializing in the hotel industry. Its price doubled.

Accenture, formally Andersen Consulting, was another gainer, up 111 percent for the quarter. Rubin said, "Every company has to understand and evaluate its business based on changes in technology," a field in which Accenture is a leading consultant.<<
