are excellent vehicles for those unfamiliar with the patch and are either uncomfortable or don't have the time they need to effectively trade the individual stocks.

Your article also points up how successful portfolio managers often use very different approaches to stock selection, sector timing, etc.

My old mentor, a wealthy and very successful professional investor concentrated his work in the 1st group. He'd often be fully margined in the big multi-national integrated giants like XOM. RD and BP. One of the best things he did for me was NOT try to change my style which was quite different from his. I like the small to mid-caps and almost never use margin.

One of the most fascinating things about this game is how many different ways there are to be very successful in the markets.
