<< did anyone, but any one at all expect the market to tank in the first quarter? No. None. Nadda. Absolutely no one. >>

Well, then they must all be makin money ;^)

<<I am guessing that your outstanding result in 2001, more particular your performance in the latter half, is an accident of investment genius in an up-market mixed in with the occasional luck of not being in the wrong shares.>>

LOL well ya covered all the bases that's for sure.

Actually I did take a few chips often the table late this after as one of my thin little issues ran up 40% in four days so I took advantage of the volume to sell some.....Of course that only means more buying power for the next one.

<<requiring no 'financial reset' ability. >>

I've lost it all [ save about $50,000 ]twice before and came back.........But I don't wanna hafta do it again. And no there is no reset button. In fact I am $40,000 in CC debt. I could pay that off easily enough as it's a pretty small part of what I got but for some reason I just can't...

<<because science fiction is only convincing up to a point, >>

I defer to Jacob's post. "liquidity will create a floor"I will go one step further. Liquidity will support the next bull.

I'm sure you've read Adam Smith's "Money Game" Remember the great Winfreds kids?...Well of course I ain't a kid anymore but I must think like one. I must speculate like I believe in the Bull. Caution will only hurt me now. I depend on my stock selection to protect me. I depend on my willingness to pull the trigger on losers early no matter the pain [ to my ego ] to protect me. This philosophy has served me well for the past two years. My biggest fear is the so called "event risk"....Makes for long weekends...

Ah ,well those damn 4 day weeks are over for a while. The game continues with 5 days on Monday.

Maybe I will join ya on the other thread if this long winded gasbag continues here.

I went & collected stats of this thread for the last week.
The important thing (for me at least) is that I found 41
posters! I find the following frequency table especially
encouraging:

#posts Frequency
-1 12
1-5 11
5-10 6
10-20 6
20-50 4
50-100 1
100 & more 1

In other words, there's a sizeable number of people around,
who now and then have something to say worth saying and
reading, but otherwise keep radio silence.

As Q Victoria would say "we were not amused" by the "> 100"
member of the fraternity. So what. The occasion made me
appreciate the other 39 posters even more.

PS: Of course the past week is not a normal week - 4day
trading, hangovers, holidays -. OTOH that was also the
week, that will probably remain in our memories as
"Vatna Jökull, there he blows" or "BF meets Titanic"
or whatever.
