I fully agree. If the big OEMs do not offer what the clients want they will loose part of their potential business. The clients are going to shop elsewhere.

In Germany, we recently saw a rather big OEM embracing the Athlon XP because their clients demanded so, as was written in a press release of that OEM, which I had quoted here a while back. ("We always want to comply with the whishes of our clients.")

Even Dell could sell more (for example to me...) if they offered an Athlon based PC as well. But, as you and Bill and others rightfully said, this opens the door for the white box makers to increase their marketshare.
