PB, I'm going to bail out of the discussion because I don't care at all what the group averages are. They are so close together and the overlaps so great that there is little reason to conclude anything from the data about group differences. I just object to people pretending things which are not real [that all groups are the same when they are not]. There is no reason to expect correlation between skin colour and intelligence. Skin colour is solely derived from melanin needed to protect skin against sunlight. It's been handed down. Intelligence has zero connection with sun protection. A really stupid person needs sun protection as much as a really smart one, except that the smart one might figure out better ways of avoiding sun damage and might draw associations with skin cancer more quickly. But I doubt that that had a significant evolutionary impact, though it would undoubtedly be recorded in the DNA somewhere because there has been an eons-long death rate from melanoma and other skin cancers [and retina cancers]. Hmmm, maybe that has driven white people to have higher average intelligence because more of the stupid white ones died from melanoma etc thousands of years ago. We still see stupid low-melanin content people burning in the sun here. Speaking of which, I recall a Maori girl calling me a dumb pakeha 30 years ago when she walked by as I was sitting in the sun reading something intelligent, such as Fourier Transforms, and getting a 'healthy' sun tan. I think she might have saved my life, because she made me consider the possibility that she was right and I was stupid. Without her warning, I might still be getting a 'healthy' tan. Now, I hide from the sun. Hmm, yes, that's it! Hundreds of millions of stupid 'white' people have died over millennia from failing to avoid the sun. So the average white IQ is higher as a result. Now we know! Sunburn kills stupid people. Melanin-rich people get less sunburn, so the stupid ones don't get killed. Hence, brown people have a lower average IQ than white ones. Unless something else has killed millions of stupid brown ones, such as avoiding tigers - stupid Indian children would go to play in the forest where hungry tigers live ... ohh, my head hurts...it's too hard to figure out. It might be easier just to treat people as individuals, irrespective of skin colour - but tell white people to keep out of the sun and brown ones to keep out of the forest... [that's a little joke, so please don't tell me that that's stupid.... I know it is...] Mqurice
