I'm not too familiar with florida politics. There are still a lot of Republicans in Texas who are members of the Democratic party. This is because there are several cities where a Republican couldn't win a race for dog catcher and so they register as Democrats and then perhaps switch if they get into state politics.

Here is an interesting Texas race where the Republicans tried to "stack the deck" by running the lackluster Republican candidate and a Democrat challenger who was Democrat in name only.

The Florida Democratic consultant is likely to be as much a Democrat as Mark McKinnon was here in Texas.
