I am getting readings between 275 and 925 -- seems like quite a range -- I give up :)

In a lousy year for Wall Street, reader Susan Olsen of Poulsbo won The Seattle Times' annual stock-picking contest with a gain of 248 percent.

Olsen's 10 stock picks included Hollywood Entertainment, the second-largest video-rental-store chain in the nation behind Blockbuster. Shares of the Wilsonville, Ore., firm increased 1,245 percent to $14.29 from $1.06 in 2001.

"I'm a real believer in the Peter Lynch style of investing — invest in what you know, invest in what you believe in," said Olsen, who worked in retail for many years.
