<<11:24AM Needham on Semi Equipment : Needham is cautious on the semi equipment group, believes that a capacity-driven upturn will not occur in 2002 and may not happen until the end of 2003 new orders should not occur until capacity reaches about 85-90% (it is currently at 64%). Firm sees at least two rallies in 2002: the first is already underway and the second should occur around mid-year. Sees ATMI as a good pick now, as wafer starts typically grow long before excess capacity is used up; ASYT and FSII are currently undervalued, while BRKS, LTXX, and MKSI are attractive on pullbacks.>>

Almost every day, and sometimes twice a day, a big brokerage house comes out and slams the semi-equips. I wish they would quit it!<gg> Seriously, I don't know who is going to win this battle, the semi-equips wanting to go up or the brokerage houses wanting them to go down. We will see how it goes this coming week.

Hey, there is nothing wrong in taking profits. If I would do that more I would be in better shape. I may be a little too greedy for next week, but I think we have at least 2 to 3 more days of positive action. Again we will see next week, but I bet we get some more brokerage houses moaning about the very high evaluations of the semi-equips and how they are not going to recover for a long, long time. As Needham reported above, they don't think they will recover "until the end of 2003". Sure glad to know that! Now I can stick my money in a sock for the next year and a half waiting for the recovery!<gg>

The upcoming week in the stock market is always interesting, but the next one should be really, really interesting.

Keep your powder dry.
