I am proud that Washington State has the highest minimum wage in the country. It helps our economy because it puts extra money in the hands of low income workers who spend that money and thereby stimulate the economy. Low income workers have a higher "marginal propensity to consume" (MPC)than higher income people who consume a lower percentage of their income and save a greater percentage. Right now, we need those extra dollars being spent rather than saved.
