i run blackice defender (bid), zonealarm free (zaf) and norton internet security (nis). i think zaf is doing the best job, but nis can also be configured to stop outgoing as well as incoming. i now have nis showing all stealth by itself on gibson's site.

bid i just seem to keep around for old time's sake. <g3> it was the first firewall i installed.

i love zaf's ability to shut down the net connection with one click.

nis has climbed the ladder of firewall respectability very quickly. plus the suite contains ad-blocking and browser privacy features that appeal to me.

btw, i won't use outlook or outlook express because of their vulnerability. i use netscape's messenger email client. i have never ever heard or read of a single virus being launched or carried via messenger. quite impressive, really, and a bit puzzling to me. but i like it.

Well this is a surprise. I installed Zone Alarm Pro last weekend. Now I find its shrunk my bandwidth on my streaming quotes, both qCharts and eSignal. I have them set for connection permission. Any tweaks with UDP ports and such that would fix it?

Have gone back to Black Ice on that machine and the bandwidth is back. Que pasa?
