I gave Reagan credit for ending the Cold War, it ended effectively in 1989 and I said if a monkey was President the Soviets would have collapsed by 1991. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt his arms race with them may have accelerated their demise by two years. It you check out all the numbers during Reagan's term, the poor grew in percentage numbers and got a lot poorer and the wealthy benefitted greatly. Numbers I am not particularly fond of and a trend that would result in a Nation going belly up eventually. The same holds true for the debt load. He left us with 11 per cent of National Budget going to debt payment and growing, not a pleasant number. So, lower taxes are not the answer otherwise we should have zero taxes, the key is the right amount of taxes combined with the right services and fiscal responsibility. Reagan's tax cuts sorely lacked the other two. And his wreckless defense spending gained little benefit and created much debt. I agree with his tax cuts but I will never agree with combining those cuts with massive spending increases, that was downright irresponsible. Bush former and Clinton worked hard to neutralize those imbalances. It is not time to get crazy again. Just my stupid take on it........
