I think 1966 looks like 1998 - a slightly lower retest a month later.

1935 barely looks like a blip on a 10-year chart: djindexes.com

Note the 1939 sell-off in that chart - the only one-day bear market reversal that I know of. But it was barely a blip in what was essentially one big bear from '37 to '42.

I double-checked my contention with someone who has daily data back to 1896; it's going to be unique in the historical annals if it turns out to be a bottom without a retest or at least a 50% retrace.

Doesn't mean I'm not playing the long side here, just keeping an eye on the exit. -g- You made an excellent call at 8700 or so; wish I'd loaded up on more longs at the time.

We got an ice storm tonight. Not pretty. Good thing I'm long EPEX. ;-)
