Carl,

Thanks very much for the kind words. I've been mostly monitoring the Foreign Affairs thread and putting in a couple of posts to get my feet wet and gain some familiarity with and by the members there. Overall, I think there is some good reading there. Subject 51724

There are of course the off-topic discussions which isn't all bad, but it is a moderated thread and the hostility is absent. My major reluctance is on the volume of the thread. Far too many posts for me to commit to reading consistently. I consider that a "disadvantage" in maintaining a sense of continuity.

....and will be missed by those who want to hear all sides of a debate.

If there was any point that I hoped to make on this thread [though it seems that I failed to make it] was that it's all out there to be picked up for the asking. Forget the political rhetoric and slogan throwing; check the statistics, the budgets, the bills, and the votes...that tells the real story. Only then do you check the actions against the rhetoric and slogan throwing.

Be wary of the "statistician" that narrowly defines the sample. General rule of thumb is that the more narrowly defined [or hand picked] the sample, the more rigged the statistics and the conclusions.

I enjoyed your posts as well, my regret is that there were not more of them. You seem to have a broader view of the world with good depth; that is to be appreciated. I've gained from our exchange.

Thanks again,
jttmab
