Why?

He wanted something stronger than "read my lips".

It only seems unfortunate cause it is so rare for a demolib to hear rhetoric from there leaders that emphasizes conviction in there beliefs. No waffling here is there? Clinton was the great Waffler. Was he Belgian?

Bush means it and wants everyone to know that.

The message is clear. He will veto any legislation that increases taxes. It is a waste of time for the demolibs to pursue the matter. If they do so, it only serves to further highlight their lack of concern for the plight of the American people.
