I use a little plastic gizmo, the name of which eludes me. It's like a paper clip. There are several similar products on the market. I think I've tried all of them. I did quite a bit of research and was unable to find any assessment of how they respond in accidents. I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any. Common sense tells me that using the device is better than using no device and I don't feel unsafe with my current set-up. If I were sufficiently concerned, I would have gotten a different car despite what it would have cost me to walk away from the brand new one I had just bought. Understand, though, that the Honda folks are adamant that those products not be used on their delicately engineered seat belts. I take that to mean that they would not accept any responsibility for injuries from seatbelt failure incurred while the gizmos are in use.

If you find you need one of those gizmos, I can dig around in my car trunk and locate the names of the various products I've bought. The one I use I bought from one of those cheezy tchotchke catalogs that are forever coming in the mail. Don't forget to get a supply for your daughter's passengers. Some of them are probably as tiny as she.
