I love this part. <font color=red>P4 divide by Zero error

This benchmark counts the fps in a demo of Incoming Forces 3D game developed by Rage Software. The game uses the latest generation visualization technology including high-detail landscapes and complex animated objects built on NURBS and 3D-fractals. All calculations in this game involve SSE and SSE2 instructions sets.

The results shown by the entire Pentium 4 family are more than impressive: elder Athlon XP processors without SSE2 support lag far behind. Moreover, Pentium 4 2.2GHz even failed this test, as there occurred "division by 0" error when getting the fps rate.

Re: "Interesting. The new version of Sysmark (2002) gives the Pentium 4 an added performance advanted compared to how it fares in the previous Sysmark."

This isn't surprising at all. The same thing happened with every new version of sysmark since sysmark99. Each new version makes intel chips look better vs amd chips than the previous version.

JC, Re: The new version of Sysmark (2002)

Are you sure that there is a new version of Sysmark out yet? I scanned the article quickly and did only find Sysmark 2001 benchmarks. Maybe you meant Content Creation Winstone 2002? That's a different benchmark suite from Ziff-Davis.

The interesting thing is that when you compare Xbitlabs and Anandtech's benchmarks scores for CC2002 and Sysmark 2001 the XP2000+ does far better on Anandtech. This can probably be contributes to the MSI KT266A motherboard Xbitlabs is using which appears to be (according to some different benchmarks) to lag ca. 5% behind the other KT266A boards.
