I wonder if the slowdown is due to retail ecommerce. Most ecommerce is done from the workplace. So if a lot of that is done around the lunch hour, I wonder if that would be enough to impact the internet speeds overall.

Victor,

I am certain that has some affect too. It amazes me how many people shop from work and it is not their lunch break LOL.

I am on all day long now and I can tell the speed variations rather well. My operation is almost entirely web based except for that last stage of selling in store. Product procurement is web based. Internal communication between stores that would be long distance phone calls is web based. The obvious is our on-line presence in both our own store and eBay. We also have an Auction Watch store and a fixed price eBay store. We really use a lot of bandwidth for a "little guy."

We are opening a drive through pick-up window at my store in Erie which also does eBay and on-line fulfillment. The local men are not really into shopping. They will pick a nice gift from the net or from eBay but do not love the shipping fees. Our store in this strip center is at the end of the strip so a window is being built to hand out wrapped packages to customer that choose them from the net and have paid for them. It is very similar to a bank drive through window. This will be operational for this Valentine's Day so we will see how it goes. The worst case is a I paid about $20K for a window I do not need. I really believe this will work.

Customer picks an item for his girlfriend, wife, mistress, etc. on the net while at work. Pays using his/her (they are all male that shop this way) charge card. They drive by with their claim ticked and pick up a giftrapped jewelry gift that they specifically chose. No need to pay shipping. No time delay and no need to go our in snowy and cold weather.

We keep trying;-)
