Taiwan Set to Build Itself Into Silicon Island

sg.news.yahoo.com

TAIPEI, Jan. 7 Asia Pulse - Taiwanese Vice President Annette Lu said she hoped to attract investment and technological transfers from the United States to help build Taiwan into a "silicon island".
Lu told a press conference before her departure for Managua she would make two transit stays in New York and Los Angeles, where she would recruit American investment and transfer of high technologies for Taiwan's effort to create a global planning and logistics center.

Taiwan has been working to turn itself into what President Chen Shui-bian calls a green silicon island.
