Now at Princeton after Atlanta. Not much sign of a bust in Atlanta, pretty similar to Canberra. Lots of new buildings and rennovations with construction proceeding rapidly on the weekend. Upscale mall at Buckhead, packed parking lots, loads of customers in Tiffanys Versace etc. All planes are packed, and everyone has the same impression as me that it is very hard to get flights as airlines have cut back far more than demand has fallen. Met many who flew via the Pacific from UK to Aus because they couldn't get seats on the Asian routes. In US people seem resigned to hassles and delays at airports, but no big deal. The snowstorm as I arrived in Atlanta caused much more trouble. Looking at US press, TV etc. too. Press is full of complaints about mutual funds performance over the last year, but that's about it on the bust side of the ledger.
