Hi SR- I kind of agree with the 2 year service issue. While it does have a taste of the sour, there are a lot of benefits that a young person would receive from his/her stint. They would be exposed to many different people and they way they live, they would get to leave the nest but still be under some sort of controlled system, they would get to see different parts of the country/world, they would be able (I assume after service benefits like the veterans get would be available, after all they could be considered to have "earned" them) to do things that maybe they couldn't afford without the service, IMO there's a lot to be said for universal service. I think they would benefit themselves just as much as the country would benefit.
