Lets not forget the role of John Paul II. When he visited Poland a force was unleashed that could not be stopped. After Poland fell, other countries began to fall like dominoes.

Reagan should also be given credit for letting Bill Casey (the last of the great cowboys) have a free hand in deciding how to go about things in Poland. He sent Lane Kirkland (the last of the great AFL-CIO leaders) there to teach Lech Walesa how to organize his union.

Don't know about Kirkland, but Casey and Walesa were devout Catholics. I guess you could say it was a Catholic conspiracy...<g>

SDI was not the sole reason that the Soviet Union collapsed.
LOL, The Beatles had more to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union than Star Wars. All Star Wars did was give the military hard liners in the Soviet Union a rhetorical weapon to weaken Gorbachev. If it "accomplished" anything it was to ensure that Yeltsin was the post Soviet leader instead of Gorbachev.
