Dave -

Haven't you heard? The recession has already bottomed out. ;-) Things are on the upswing. (At least it looks that way.)

Besides, at least for now, the old iMacs are still available starting at $799. It is also worth noting that people actually do buy the more expensive models of ALL the Macs. In fact, as has been pointed out, the more expensive iMacs sell better than the lower end.

Flat panel screens can be had for about 265-300$ (subtract the 100$ monitor that one doesn't buy, and it is only about 150-200$ more than a CRT PC).
