Qualcomm today announces the elevation of Roberto Padovani to executive vice
president and chief technology officer. Padovani is the inventor or co-inventor of
45 of the company's patents covering various aspects of Qualcomm's CDMA
technology.

In his new role, Padovani will focus on shaping and supporting the company's
technical direction, oversee business activities and guide the development of the
CDMA migration path, the company says.

'[Padovani's] advancements have led to the successful standardization of IS-95
and the design of the first CDMA chipset. He also led the development of High
Data Rate technology that is now the basis for CDMA 1xEV-DO,' says Irwin
Jacobs, Qualcomm's chairman and chief executive. Franklin Antonio, who served
as the company's CTO since 1996, becomes executive vice president and chief
scientist.

Qualcomm also today announces the first call using its radioOne Zero
Intermediate Frequency technology and the MSM6000 CDMA2000 1x chipset. The
next-gen call was placed by Qualcomm CDMA Technologies President Dan
Schrock to Irwin Jacobs.
