Wrong - The only thing that worries me about JNPR is Q1 and Q2 of 2002. They are transitioning from a router that Cisco has just about caught up with -- and Cisco would say they have caught up with -- to a next gen router (Gibson) that will again put JNPR 9-12 months ahead of Cisco in pure performance and technology.

So, even though smaller, JNPR has better routers. A lot of customers also want to buy from someone other than Cisco. Have you ever done business with Cisco? Some people have not likee their scorched earth sales actions of the recent past...which were: Meet quota at all costs and we'll worry about the customer, later. And I know John Chambers would hate to hear that, but...

Also, JNPR's purchase of Pacific Broadband gives them more breadth at the MSO head end...better, I believe, than what Cisco has or will have --until Cisco feels the pain of losing deals and brings people (paying them a lot of money) out of retirement to save the day -- which is what happened with their router line. (They got tired of losing share to JNPR and went to their old pros, asking them to come back and join the fight after having retired.)

JNPR is great mid and long term. My only uncertaintity is how they will manage the Gibson product transition between now and June/July when it's their staple.

It's a 2 horse race: JNPR and CSCO. If Cisco wants to own this space, like they used to, they will have to buy JNPR. I don't think the ego's involved will allow that.
