"the March quarter will herald "modest growth."
Seems that with a PE of over 50, "modest growth" is already priced in, ya think?

I believe that this company is somewhat different from the Intel, NVDA, MU types. Note that the stocks that supply chips or components to the computer industry have done really well.

The suppliers to the telecommunications have not--generally speaking; there are exceptions. Whereas the PC industry appeared to turn in the 4th quarter apart from just seasonal factors----telecommunications equipment suppliers have done really badly in 2001.
I don't know about Altera specifically but it seems to me that the sector will do better than the PC related. My focus is a bit away from the communications chip stocks like XLNX or ALTR--looking more at the Nortel types because the chips have rallied with the broader semiconductor group.

Even today, some of that group held up pretty well even as the Nasdaq started weakening.

Just my opinion of course.
