We are far too complex to just happened by random.

Milo, no question. Its hard to believe that we exist on a planet in the middle of a solar system; and then I am boggled by the fact that this solar system is just one of millions in its resident galaxy which in turn is just one of many in the universe. But where my brain crashes is trying to grasp the idea that our universe is just one of many and that there is no end to all of this.

This is where I lose it and think there's something immense going on here; something immense and incredible......that's when I turn on the tv and watch friends or will and grace reruns......comfort tv ! <g>

But going beyond the bible and just looking at the Universe and everything and how complex it is what convinces me of the truth of the word.
We are far too complex to just happened by random

That is a valid line of argument, as there are so many things that humans have not yet explained. However, that just (logically) points to a superior "creationist" force in the universe. That may be who we call God.

However, how does one jump from the "The universe is so complex and ordered that there must be a God (higher power)" to "The universe is so complex and ordered that there must be a God (or higher power) that is responsive to human's prayers, needs, desires, deeds". In other words, what in the world points to a listening, responding, demanding, forgiving, (and let's not forget the most important of all) punishing God?

Everything that I see around. The abject cruelty, pain, suffering, agony, war, poverty, disease, suffering of infants and children all point rather to an indifferent God. A "non-listening" type of God, a non-judging God. In other words a non-moral god (with a lower case "g").

One can (easily?) make the case for:

"god"(logical deduction of a universal creationist force- lower case "god") + "human ego" + "need to explain things" + "need to keep society in check in the absence of a social/legal system" = "God" (an interactive moral uppercase "G" God)!

We are products of billions of years of evolution... it took a long time to "manufacture" us... I don't think it's such a tall order for Nature.
