UF,

I have mixed feelings about SanDisk. When I first invested in the company, I felt that they had a proprietary IP advantage, that doesn't appear to be the case now. It appears that flash cards are pretty close to a commodity, without IP or brand equity. So they will probably be at the mercy of manufacturing capacity growth vs. demand growth.

Vs. Sony MS I think they are OK (the old open standard vs. Betamax argument).

I've been struggling to find any company that will see handsome profits from the growth of digital photography. Maybe there is a component manufacturer that has a proprietary advantage?

The same issue on a larger scale; it's getting more difficult these days to find any small companies that can establish IP equity. It seems like only the large companies have the scope to establish, and resources to defend new standards.
