RESEARCH ALERT-Compaq 2002 earnings estimate raised
NEW YORK, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley on Tuesday said it increased its expectation for No. 2 personal computer maker Compaq Computer Corp.'s (NYSE:CPQ - news) 2002 earnings to 33 cents per share from 28 cents per share after the company said the fourth quarter of fiscal 2001 was better than it expected.

Morgan Stanley also raised its 2002 revenue expectation to $33.2 billion from $32 billion.

Morgan Stanley said it believes the fourth quarter was better than expected due to strength in sales of server computers that run Windows NT operating systems.
