Darbes, re:<We all know that $20 has become at least a mental barrier for the common.>

Well, with today's close AMD has closed above it's 200 day moving average 3 consecutive days. So $20 may soon prove to be a resistance level on the downside as well.

I missed the news of sales to Avnet. Is there a link? (lazy recuperation)

DRBES,

I share your concerns. Alone in a universe, AMD is a great investment. But, it is living in one where Intel is over valued and the market is over extended and we are entering the slow period for tech. Also, it now looks like we will not see 0.13u until mid to late Q2. I'll be lightening up over the next few days.

Pravin.

DRBES:

AMD has stated in November:

1. Record processor revenue and record units shipped for q4. (i.e. minimum $641 million?)
2. $200 million flash or thereabouts.
3. Total revenues up a minimum of 15% in q4 (q3 = $765 million...i.e. minimum $875 million)
4. snapback in q4 strongest Mr. Sanders has seen in the industry.
5. projecting record processor revenues and units shipped in q1 owing to success of XP.
6. sold out in q4 at XP = 1600+ and 1700+
7. profitability restored in q2...

Most of that information was released in November and several analysts contend that strength continued thru December...

DRBES, I won't be surprised if AMD preannounces owing to the resounding rebound that they have experienced since the XP was released in October resulting in ASP at the $80+ level for q4...Just as AMD dropped from $28 to $22 on negative news in July, I won't be surprised by a jump of at least equal magnitude on positive January news, either preannouncement or just earnings...Forward guidance should be outstanding given confidence in record units shipped and record processor revenues in q1...(AMD is positioned to lead in any economic recovery which began in Sept/Oct. imo)...
