Republican John Sullivan won a Special Election to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Congressman Steve Largent.

Voters in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District today elected Republican
state Representative John Sullivan to succeed Congressman Steve Largent (R-Tulsa) who has
resigned, effective February 15, to run for Governor.

Sullivan defeated Democrat Doug Dodd, and Independent candidates Neil Mavis and David Fares,
in unofficial returns.

John Sullivan is a perfect match for this historically conservative district. His fiscal
conservatism and his experience as a bipartisan legislator will serve the citizens of Tulsa
well. I look forward to working with him.

Sullivan’s victory represents the sixth win in a special election by a Republican in the
107th Congressional Session and the first of 2002. This success could not have been possible
with out the dedicated help of supporters like you.

Thank you again for your friendship and support. God Bless America.

Tom Davis, Member of Congress
Chairman, National Republican Congressional Committee
