gao, Watson Linux it the linux made with the right stuff.

watman.com redhat, suse or mandrake are all ok as a base as the secret is in using the right gui. Then add an ergonomic multidesk design and voila, Watson Linux. kde and gnome window managers are somewhat less doggy than the borg gui du jour.

I also use a commercial xserver. 99 bucks or 200 for multhead that's faster than the Xfree86. But kde and gnome are still doggy.

With fvwm, I don't know if one could really sense the difference between Xfree and Xig X servers on a 600 mhz P3 class machine or better.
