Impressive research. I think that agrees with what I said, but the details of the money as a gift of wheat, food commodities, and food security programs distributed to the Afghan people by agencies of the United Nations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is much more accurate, than my statement that they were given $43 million to replace income lost to Afghani farmers as a result of the ban.

Of course the US gives foreign aid to many countries in many ways. I was looking for a list of US foreign aid recipients but haven't located one yet. Most certainly the US gives more total foreign aid than any other country, but as a percentage of GNP Denmark gives the most. This is a interesting chart. As a percentage of GNP the US is 22nd in assistance.
