AJ, what do you think about Qcom. Looks like we had a nice reversal today on huge volume. I figure we could run to $52.00 before getting whacked. What are your thoughts.

One more short squeeze yet I think, then a drop into expiration.

How about just a drop into expiration. I put on my biggest short in a while today. It just feels like we are running out of gas. There are still some sectors that have some juice, notably storage, but the Sox is running into enormous resistance and hasn't made any progress lately. I'm short AMAT, KLAC, NVLS, and BRCM.

If the semiconductor equipment stocks like AMAT, NVLS, KLAC rally significantly in the next day or so, that would be a sign to me that a big short squeeze is in progress.

I can't imagine investors are really putting much money into this group at current prices. Of course, there is the 401k inflows that might go straight into SnP500 or Nasdaq100 type of funds. That combined with short covering might do it. I am watching these stocks as a bit of an indicator for inflows into the market.

That is my main indicator (semi equipment) for a short term top on the Nasdaq. If they stop going up, would be time for me to make a bunch of sales; have already started to reduce my aggressive (margin/option) long positions.
2100 would be perfect for me to get to the point where I am just long the market on a cash basis.

btw--i just wonder how aggressive the shorts are getting on the semi equipment stocks considering even someone like me is relatively bearish on the group.<g>
Short interest late January will be interesting.
