not to mention the so-called "china wall" between the research and the trading arms of the houses.

<It just aggravates me that the regulatory gods continue to allow AOL and others to use this EBITDA and other pro forma methods of accounting with the public that would never be allowed in the financial information that they present to the SEC>

ahh yes, does make one wonder

imo without pro-forma there is nary a tech company that would have reported 'profits' over the last 3 years(and plenty non-tech as well since they know a good deal when they see it)

this will end so badly with much contrition and gnashing of teeth on wall street, fed, white house, corporate boards etc.

then a through hen house cleaning will be mandated and implemented and the chickens will once again feel safe
holding stocks longer than it takes to digest some primo growth hormone

lather, rinse, repeat

CNBC FINALLY reports why AOL took 60 BILLION charge!

They are FINALLY reporting this afternoon AFTER the close on the 60 Billion dollar good will charge that AOL took.

Where were they when the conference was going on???

Why didn't they report this when it was readily apparent to everyone else???

Is this responsible, objective reporting? I don't know why you laugh at this, don't you expect responsible, objective reporting out of CNBC? I guess anyone that does is just plain ignorant.
