Hi Maurice Winn; Re IQ tests as measurements of the ability to do "high IQ things".

The primary high IQ thing that IQ tests measure is the ability to do well on IQ tests.

About half the problem with the SAT, ACT and GRE is that they are timed tests. I guess they were trying for lots of questions, in order to get better statistics, but the result is that they are strongly slanted in favor of people who think quickly, not necessarily those who are capable of understanding deep concepts.

The idea that intelligence can be 'educated' into people is false

Depends if you are talking about a single person, who has a given set of circumstances, or a group of people imho. Motivation changes things unless your model of human beings learning mechanism is a simple one. Is there such things as first order interactions? Concrete has strength, Steel has strength. What happens if you mix them together? One effects the other. Even if talking about a single person, I believe you will find your are mistaken on that point. Ever "do better" with a good teacher? The data clearly shows that intelligence grows or decays depending on environment, and we are talking short term here...less then years, months or even weeks. I am talking generally, but also about your stricter definition (this has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt) of it.

It's like a plant -g- Water it and give it a bit of attention..it grows -lol-
