Re: Shoot, 20% more demand than you can fill

Do you think that the motherboard manufacturers produced those boards absent guidance from Intel that there would be chips to go in them? Doesn't this confirm yields below expectations?

Semi, Re: "Ya know, all during Q4, intel was cranking their 0.18u Willamette for all it's worth, and was banging out Northwood in Oregon and California, and they STILL couldn't keep up with demand. Shoot, 20% more demand than you can fill. I have a feeling that intel's Q4 results are going to surprise people...."

With all the chips being manufactured, Intel must have broken their 20M unit commitment for the year that they made back in Y2K. I remember Niceguy bawling on the AMD thread a few months ago about what a farce Intel was because they couldn't nearly meet commitments on the "loser" Pentium 4. Now Intel has surpassed their commitments, even despite a slow year for them. I should see if I can find Niceguy's old post....
