Tim, it may be undetermined conclusively but the factual evidence clearly is on the side of our lives being over at the time of death.

Ted there is no factual evidence in this matter. There are no facts or observations regarding the existence or lack their of of a soul or afterlife.

Tim, the facts say that our lives end at death. There is speculation [mostly religious] that we then go to an afterlife. It has been proven that our bodies die and our brains cease functioning at death.

The speculation that we go to an afterlife is based on the premise that we have souls. However, there is no proof that we have souls nor that they go to an afterlife when we die. Like you say, the contrary is also true but most will agree that the burden of proof lies on the soul/afterlife side.

When making future plans, we usually based them on facts, not speculation. I plan that when I die, that's it. However, if there is more, I will consider it a freebie.
