Palm will use this architecture, which is based on Broadcom's Blutonium line of transceivers, as a building block for creating innovative Personal Area Networks. 12:24AM Nasdaq Composite : -- Technical -- Index has backed off the session's best levels though it remains in the upper half of its intraday range. Faces a notable resistance level at 2100 which has held to this point in the session. Look for initial support in the area of 2088/2090 followed by additional support around 2084. Market internals remain solidly bullish with advancing volume leading declining volume by a margin of about 4 to 1. 11:37AM SanDisk Corp (SNDK) 16.04 +0.68 (+4.4%): Co announces that that it will co-brand with Hewlett-Packard a SanDisk-manufactured 16 megabyte (MB) Secure Digital Card that will be included with the new HP Photosmart 812 digital camera. 11:33AM Vishay Intertech (VSH) 20.91 -0.09 (-0.4%): During their Needham conference presentation, co says that active component bookings have improved in the Dec qtr and passive mkt is still slow but stable. Says that during a "normal operating environment" co could grow operating income by 15%, maintain gross margins in the high-20% range, and grow sales by 8-10%; reiterates that General Semi acquisition should be accretive in 2002. "Time is right" for acquisitions in both active and passive segments as well as measurement specialty area. 11:07AM Xilinx (XLNX) 46.89 +1.95 (+4.4%): -- Technical -- This is another one touching a new recovery high and it may move in sympathy with comments from BRCM's conference call. Currently trading at the day's best levels, look for resistance in the area of 48.00. From current levels, has little in the way of notable upside resistance until 57.40 which marks the top of a gap created back in July. As for cable modem market, there never has been a slowdown in subscriber growth. The problem has been too much inventory, however, the inventory glut has "essentially been eliminated." 9:15AM NVIDIA Corp (NVDA) 68.55: Thomas Weisel is positive on NVDA, as co continues to gain share in existing mkts while developing promising products for new mkts; firm reiterates Buy rating and increases pricetarget to $90 from $70, increases FY02 rev/EPS ests to $1.83 bln/$1.35 from $1.80 bln/$1.30 and FY03 to $2.3 bln/$1.75 from $2.2 bln/$1.65. 8:36AM Micron Tech (MU) 35.30: Bear Stearns "Ripple Effect" believes that MU is likely to make an offer for Hynix by this weekend; while deal could simply depend on price (MU believes Hynix's current mkt cap is too high), firm also suspects that Korean govt has changed to a more positive stance. 7:22AM Dupont Photomask (DPMI) 47.68: Semiconductor equipment maker raises Q2 guidance. Co now sees EPS of about $0.00 and rev of $86 mln vs previous guidance of a $0.10-$0.40 loss and rev of $70-$80 mln. Analysts were anticipating -$0.19 and $73.9 mln. For Q3, co sees rev of $77-$87 mln (consensus $76.5 mln).
