(OT) Hi Cobalt,

If you are into analysis of statistics, or design of statistical surveys, it is a mind blast. Sure you could use Excel and draw yours graph etc, calculate std dev. Easy enough, but JMP (and other software like RS1) has a kind of "auto statistician" process to help you along.

I just downloaded the free demo. The software has been substantially updated since I last used it. It was good before, and even better now. I'm still catching up on the new features, it will take me a week or so I expect.

Rather then download your own data sets, if you go "File Open", and select the sample datasets, they range from cholesterol reduction to silicon chip manufacturing, you can see what is does in it's basic configuration.

It specializes in pretty pictures, showing you whats happening. Much easier then looking at a big table of numbers and equations (or two dimensional graphs).

Seems to have doubled or more in price too <nfg> For industrial use it's still very cheap. Most businesses throw more money then that away every minute of the day from not knowing whats going on. They also have huge budgets for this type of thing.

My free DEMO copy works OK, wonder how they are going to stop me from using it? Does it "time out" or something??

If anyone decides to try it, and have any questions, I'll answer by pm. Part of my "get back to work" plan is honeing my skills in this software once again. It's amazing how we get "rusty" even after years of use and months of seminars, perhaps ..opps never mind... -ggg-
