Just like the collapse of the Nasdaq wasn't expected, but at least it's ability to avoid a total collapse handily beat expectations! How about Nordy's, who had declining sales for Christmas two years running, but the decline this year was less than the decline last year (i.e. a continuation of decreasing sales, but the 2nd derivative is positive). So the stock rallies... I'm thinking that their sales are still falling, though, and how in a year or two they could be flat, and that might translate into flat profit potential as well, so yippee!
