Cheney may be ill as well, but I believe that if illness were the reason he has completely disappeared from public view, we would have heard about it. The Vice President is accountable to the American people. If he is ill, they have a right to know. In the recent past, when a president or a vice president was ill, we knew about it. And they were all injured or ill at one time or another. Clinton had an injury to his foot or leg when he slipped on the stairs. He was in a great deal of pain. The injury took quite awhile to heal.
