Paul and thread: More confirmation of what all but the 'Droids know:

"In Northwood, Intel has brought to the market a CPU that will stand up to the competition with few caveats--something you couldn't really say about the Willamette. While the Athlon XP 2000+ maintains parity with the 2GHz Northwood in some tests, the 2GHz Northwood CPU pulls ahead of AMD's fastest CPU in many benchmarks (and note that the Athlon had left the Willamette gasping to keep up in many tests in the past). The 2.2GHz Northwood, with only a couple of exceptions, is the undisputed performance leader of the moment. This is true even for gaming applications, which has been AMD's strong suit over the last few months."
