The SOX hit its highest high since August today. The way things closed today makes me wish I was still short AMAT but tomorrow could make me regret it. The other major indexes all have been weaker than the NASDAQ lately with the exception of the Russell 2000 which makes the buy the smaller equipment players argument seem quite logical. My timing on the short position was poor due to my desire to be in something too early as usual. The RSI on AMAT will be difficult to sustain especially if there is not more good news to come immediately. Basically I should have shorted after I sold my long position today but damn if I ever want to hold a short position overnight again. Analysts upgrades, new orders, impending economic recovery.... they all add up to buying long on the dips.
