In any case, it would certainly take more than a year to eliminate AMD. But if Intc had a stronger product lineup and/or a better ramp of their fabs, they could have weakened AMD a lot. But that didn't happen, so there is no DOJ problem for Intel.

Actually, upon further cogitation, I have decided to give Intel a D grade, instead of F. The price war didn't work that well against AMD, but it did a great job of slowing down Via. In many ways, Via is just as big a threat as AMD. So I give credit to Intel for stopping Via's gains.
